  ​Scott Oakland, W1AL, was born and raised in Rhode Island. He started out in 1976 at the age of 16 as a CBer, which led him to became a license Novice amateur radio operator as KA1CCA in January 1979. Scott has been active as a DXer, confirming over 300 DXCC countries. He has also been active in Islands on the Air (IOTA) and US Islands (USI). Scott's other former callsigns include N1BCV, KN1I, WA1P, and W1LU. Scott received the coveted and historical callsign W1AL in 2004 (see below). Scott and his family moved to Cape Coral, FL in 2013. Scott is also active on HF CW and FT8, and is also the trustee of ​the Island Hunters ARC (WP2J).
